Pocket 808 is the work of Sydney producers Sameer Sengupta and Ken Cloud, formerly known as Poxymusic. They'll drop their debut album Proximo next week.

You've already heard a couple of tracks from it on triple j - 'Ghostship' featuring Nathan Hudson from Faker and 'Monster (Babe)' showcasing the vocal talents of Grinspoon's Phil Jamieson.

Sameer Sengupta told Nina Las Vegas from triple j Mix Up that 'Monster (Babe)' is his favourite tune on the album thanks to the special shine that Jamieson added.

"Because the beat is actually quite aggressive and a rock tempo I don't think it was too much of a jump. He really just went with it. He's just a magnificent performer, I love him."

According to Sengupta, the Grinspoon frontman was right at home working on a club track.

"The funny thing about Phil is he's really well-read on electronic music. He may be known for just doing rock but you have a conversation with him about dance music and he knows exactly what he's talking about. He's always been immersed in it as far as I know."

Other collaborators on the album include Jamie Lloyd, Aya Larkin (Skunkhour), Ali Omar and Gina Mitchell. It'll be out next Friday August 27.
